Other Experience includes familiarity with and use digital cameras for my web papers; producing newsletters and/or web pages for several organizations and companies; news production and directing for broadcast news stations, and freelance photography and videography assignments.

I attend the National Association of Broadcasters (N.A.B.) conference in Las Vegas each year to see all the new "toys" available for dissemination of information over radio, television, and computer networks.  Hardware and all the trimmings have evolved over the years and the quality of products available today is remarkable!  There are so many new and improved approaches to production, image gathering, news reporting, and commercial/industrial presentations that old producers like me really must keep up our studies just to figure out the changing vernacular of the media field!

Gone are the days of photographic alchemy -- images are now bits of information.  No more 50 pound movie cameras -- it's all done today using digital cams you can put in your pocket.   And the images are cleaner and better!  As a kid, I thought seeing an image appear on a piece of photographic paper in my darkroom was "magic"..... Now days everyone's a wizard, or uses one......  I used to spend my resting hours watching my favorite television shows.  Now I spend hours in front of a "monitor", reading e-mail, creating video presentations, cleaning up my still photography, and/or researching everything I ever wanted to know about anything!  I can also watch my favorite TV shows on my computer.  I'm no longer a couch potato, I'm a vegetable with a key board in one hand and a mouse in the other.....

I've always believed that life is a life-long learning experience, and the new technology in my media profession hasn't let me down.  Keeping up is the problem now, and sometimes I wonder if too much knowledge can be all that good for me!  The older I get, the more I realize the closer I'm getting to my end.  I once read somewhere:  "You learn as much as you can, and then you die..."   It just goes to show you, there's always something.........
